GTA 6 Map

GTA 6 is taking us back to a place called Vice City, and it’s going to be the biggest and most detailed map in the whole Grand Theft Auto series. The game is set in a new state called Leonida, which is based on Florida in real life. Rockstar Games showed us a lot of this in the first trailer, and fans are already looking at every little part to figure out what’s coming.

Let’s break everything down in a way that’s easy to understand.

The Setting: Leonida (Based on Florida)

gta 6 Vice City

The game takes place in Leonida, a made-up state that looks a lot like Florida in the real world. That means we’ll see:

  • Hot weather
  • Beaches and oceans
  • Swamps with alligators
  • Cities, small towns, farms, and forests
  • People acting wild just like viral Florida videos

Vice City, which is based on Miami, is the main big city in the game. But there’s a lot more outside of it too.

Vice City Is Back (But Looks Way Better Now)

Vice City first appeared in older GTA games. Now, it’s back — but it looks much more modern and detailed.

In the trailer, you can see:

  • Tall buildings and shiny lights
  • Crowded beaches with people taking selfies
  • A big city skyline
  • Police chases
  • Party scenes and crazy things happening

Everything feels alive — people walk, talk, record videos, dance on cars, and more. It’s like a living world.

The GTA 6 Map: What We Know

The map will be much bigger than GTA 5’s map. Rockstar is putting a lot of work into making it feel real and exciting.

Main Features:

  • Vice City: The big, busy city
  • Suburban Areas: Houses and neighborhoods outside the city
  • Countryside: Farms, roads, and open areas
  • Swamps: Like the Florida Everglades, with wildlife
  • Beaches: People relaxing, swimming, partying
  • Smaller Towns: With their own shops and streets
  • Nature Areas: Forests, rivers, and maybe even mountains

You won’t just be driving around in the city—you’ll have the whole state to explore.

Real-Life Places in the Game

Fans who watched the trailer carefully noticed that some parts of the map look a lot like real places in Florida:

  • Miami = Vice City
  • Florida Keys = Island chains with bridges
  • Everglades = Swamps and wild animals
  • Fort Myers, Naples, Orlando = Towns and cities
  • South Beach = Bright lights and nightlife
  • Cape Canaveral = Rocket launch pad? Maybe!

Even street signs and buildings match real-life spots.

New Places (Found in Leaks)

Even before the trailer came out, some gameplay clips were leaked online. They showed even more of the map, including:

  • Port Gellhorn: A port city, possibly north of Vice City
  • Grassrivers: Could be like the Everglades
  • Yorktown, Hamlet, Quincy, Redhill, Sundown: New towns
  • Keys-style Islands: Small islands connected by long bridges

Some of these may be fake, but the leaks matched the trailer in many ways, so they’re probably real.

Map Size: Is It Bigger Than GTA 5?

gta 6 map compare to gta 5

Yes, all signs show that the GTA 6 map is much bigger than GTA 5’s map. It looks like it will be 2 to 3 times larger!

In GTA 5, you had:

  • Los Santos (the city)
  • Blaine County (desert and mountains)

In GTA 6, you’ll get:

  • Vice City (a modern, bright city)
  • Many smaller cities and towns
  • Huge swamps
  • Farmlands
  • Wildlife
  • Oceans, beaches, and islands

There will be way more to explore.

Map Design: Very Realistic

The GTA 6 map is not just big—it’s also realistic.

Here’s what makes it feel like real life:

  • Day/Night Cycle: The sun rises and sets
  • People React: They film you, run, scream, or fight
  • Traffic Feels Real: Cars stop at lights, people honk
  • Shops, Motels, Gas Stations: Look just like real ones
  • Animals: Dogs, birds, gators—you name it

It’s like a mini version of real Florida inside a game.

Fan-Made Maps & Leaks

Fans used leaked footage and trailer shots to create maps showing the full layout. These maps include:

  • Vice City in the southeast
  • Swamps to the west
  • Long highways across the state
  • A giant lake in the middle
  • Bridges connecting islands

We can’t say 100% it’s accurate, but it looks very likely based on everything we’ve seen so far.

What’s Still a Secret?

Rockstar has only released one trailer so far. They haven’t shown the full map officially. But fans are hoping:

  • Trailer 2 will reveal more of the map
  • Rockstar might show the full map before release
  • We’ll get to explore the map fully in the game launch

Some people think GTA 6 Online may bring even more places later, just like GTA Online did with Los Santos.

When Is the Game Coming?

GTA 6 is coming on May 26, 2026. That’s when we’ll finally get to explore the whole Leonida map for ourselves. It will release on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S

No news yet for PC, but it might come later.
